What do you think your final grade should be and why?
I think i deserve an A for my final grade. I feel this way because I have done all the work that was required from me and more. I feel that i did all the classwork required from me and was able to just to easily just type on the computer what I really felt Also, i felt at times i did speak when no one really was talking. However, I am guilty of not talking some days. I feel like i did get my own opinion out. Overall though this class gave me a great chance to think about things I would never be thinking about. For example, advertisement and how well they effect our decisions, media and how we are so addicted and how food is pretty much not safe anymore.
Overall, this is probably is one of those English classes that you would see on television. This was really a different English comp class from what i have ever taken before. It was the atypical and non sterotypical. We didn't write essays about any insignficant topics and I felt that every topic we did was interesting.
I hope english lit is as great as this class.
See you next semester.
P.S: After this I am going to rate my professor.com and all fives and maybe a four on one catagory (hmmm, probably not)

Novemeber 29th- Entry
I never had a material object that I cherished the world with. For me it was never about the monetary value of things or even just the thing itself. I remember the little things people do for me or those special moments I had with them more than actually possessions. However, if I have to choose that something that meant the world a lot to me would be my dog tag I got in Hawaii. I went after I graduated the 4th grade. It was really memorable in the fact that it was the first time for me getting out of New York City. The first time taking an airplane a new exotic place was just a feeling you cannot replicate. It felt like I was coming from this small town like in Kanasa to this amazing place like Greece. The place was marvelous and the hotel we stayed at was great. But the most important thing about this vacation was that I got to spend time with my mom and sister. We got to leave all our problems we all had in the city and got to just enjoy the finer things in life. One day, we went to Pearl Harbor memorial and museum. I remember seeing this guy selling these metal chains with a piece of metal attached to it. I was really intrigued by it and I asked my mom is I can have one. She looked at it and eventually, she let brought me and my sister one. I thought it was really cool because it had my name on it, birthday date, address and blood type. Then my mom said something that I don’t forget to this day, “this tag shows who you are, don’t you ever forget that.”
That quote has stuck to me since then. I feel that finding one’s self is so hard to find in this world. But what’s even harder is to accept one’s identity and that one is worth something and that worth cannot be put into monetary value. In this world, you have to be confident in yourself and prove that you are worth something. If you don’t, you will feel like crap and you will try to change yourself to fit someone else’s mold of the “perfect” friend or even significant other. So that dog tag, I keep in my dresser drawer and every day I look at it and it gives me the strength to keep fighting and never change who I am. People will not like you for who you are due to first appearance or just that they don’t like your personality. However, it’s there loss because that person could be that one more friend they could have had. That one person that you could have shared laughs with. That one person that could make your world be so much brighter. That one person could be the “one” that everyone is looking for. So for the readers reading this, never give up who you are and don’t knock people down after the first time. Those people might surprise you.

I feel like parents of this little girl should be punished and people like them shouldn’t even have a child in the first place. They were not able to have the will to live, at least give the child away to a family that will take care of the baby. Okay, the parents didn’t have jobs and were in a big down point in their lives. They cannot just give up and lose that will. One has to pick up their selves realize that life doesn’t stop. The shitty life that your living won’t get any better by playing a video game/going to a virtual reality where they had the things they wanted.
It’s ashamed that this girl had to suffer to the point where her parents went to internet cafes instead of looking for a job to support their kid. This shows us how some people use media to get out of reality and is so addicted that they think the game they are playing is their reality. These people just need to get their sense in check by someone. It’s also ashamed that they didn’t have any friends to tell them that this was bad.
If, this was to happen to me, i would want the people who care about me and tell me that I am hooked and I need to take responsilblity of the things i have to do. Like take care of a kid. Life goes on and playing a game wont have time slow down or stop. The world keeps going if you want it to or not.

Attachment gadets-
TV-3-4 hrs a week.
Phone
Facebook
Ipod
Video Games
Internet- Dependance is 9.5.
A week of not using technology, would require me to tell my friends and my family that they cannot reach me by phone or txt me for a week. I think I would be somewhat out of the loop with my friends, cause everything now these days go by in seconds. But it be nice, it would see who would actually care and who is willing to take that extra step to come knock at my door and be like “hey Kenny…..”. I think the worst for me would be not knowing what is going on in the world and in technology.

The perfect research topic would be a topic that is very debatable and can be both argued; on either side. The topic would be relatively simple but if one looks at it at a bigger scope it’s so much more complex than that. It would be something that would be very controversial and something that affects not a small group of people but our whole society. It should make us think a little harder about it and realize how that something impacts us in a good/bad way. This way we can think about how we can change it and how we can use it to change our way of life.

This shows us how drinking can cause us hangover like the feeling of a bad headache and the feeling of regret. the more drinking one does, the more he or she feels addicted to alcohol. The more that happens, the more likely that someone will use alcohol more when they feel down to give them a good feeling. This can cause them to commmit sucide

This ad shows us how workers overseas who make our shoes get very little pay to make people look cool. Its sad too cause when one buys their nike shoes to feel confident about him or herself, the workers overseas are suffering. When they ask for a raise they are replaced with somebody else.

10/7 Homework
In today’s age of technology, the possibility for companies to place ads in our life are limitless. Advertisements can be found on the streets we walk on, the 500 feet billboards that are placed about every 5 blocks and the media we use on a daily basis. Our internet-enabled cell phones, television and computers can and has spammed us with advertisements for about the last 8 years of our lives. Every website I go to now these days is filled with 3 or more ads. It gets annoying to the point where I have to install and ad-blocker to block all these stupid ads.
To get to the question; how does media/consumerism effect who I am as a person and how does it affect my habits? Media affects me in many ways. One way how media shapes me is how I perceive the world. When news reports comes in about killings, shootings, robberies and all this crazy stuff people do these days makes me really watch out what is going around me when I walk in the city. One may never what can happen these days. Another thing I learned from media is how gender is stereotyped in this society. Media and advertisements bring out the stereotypical woman and man. For men, media depicts these people as muscular, handsome, badass and is dressed in the most “fanciest” clothes. This makes the public believe that if a man doesn’t have most of these qualities that are considered not a “man” or just a wimpy man. This is bad because not all men can be that stereotypical man or don’t want to be. However, if they choose not to be then they will get made fun of by society, which no one wants. With women, the media also has a stereotype for them. Women are stereotyped as people who are always skinny; looks pretty, perfect figure and are just eye candy. However, for me personally, women are just more than eye candy to me. I feel women can be smarter than men and at times they can be as strong mentally and physically than guys. It somewhat sickens me that some of my girl-friends believe that they are not skinny enough, not “beautiful” enough or they have a fat (Insert body part). However, they are fine the way they are because it should matter what is on the inside and not the outside. As a society we have lost that and I believe that it is an horrible lost for us.
For shopping habits, I believe that media hasn’t effect me in what my habits are or what I buy. At most times I know what I am buying at stores. If I go to foot locker I know I need to buy a shoe, however I buy the ones that look “nice” to me and that are cheap at the same time. I never buy the ones that are the most “popular” or the newest shoes out there. I know what my habits are and nothing can really change that.
